St Mary The Virgin, Ashbury, Berks

Transcribed all existing and readable gravestones August 2008

The original idea was to survey Idstone. Since there is no church in the village but within the Ashbury Civil Parish a visit to Ashbury was undertaken. I could find no Grist or Pope headstones (being too hopeful !)

The modern area was not surveyed (probably classed as a cemetery since separated from the churchyard by an embankment and track)
A footstone shows the deceased’s initials and many give year of death. I have included them where the headstone is missing or illegible
